Former Bantam Andy Burns signs for Dagenham and Redbridge

Former Bantam Andy Burns has signed a 12-month contract with League Two rivals Dagenham and Redbridge. The 19-year-old was a free agent after his contact at Valley Parade was terminated by mutual consent last month. The Liverpool-born defender spent 8-years at Bolton Wanderers before joining the Bantams on  a two-year deal last July. He was part of Archie Christie’s much maligned development squad and he never manged to make an appearance for City but he did spend the latter part of last season on loan at Harrogate Town.

Daggers manager John Still said: “He’s been here for a few weeks and we’ve liked what we’ve seen. I think he’s got something about him and we think he might be able to push on like a lot of the players we have here. He’s young, he’s ambitious, he’s worked and his working extremely hard to make a career for himself and his attitude has been first class. We wish him the best of luck here.”
