Exeter City have signed former Bantams midfielder Tommy Doherty on a six-month deal. The 33-year-old returns to the Football League after a year in the Conference with Newport County and Bath City. The player will be best remembered by most City fans for his tweets as opposed to his performances on the pitch. It will be interesting to see what sort of response he gets on his return to Valley Parade!
Another of Peter Taylor’s “inspired” signings is also on the move this week as striker Jake Speight has rejoined Blue Square Bet Premier side Mansfield Town. The 26-year-old signed for an undisclosed fee from Wrexham. My favourite quote of the week came the Wrexham manager about Jake Speight: “I am hoping I can get a better player out there with half the problems.”
Finally neighbours FC Halifax town have signed former City midfielder Jon Worthington from Mansfield Town. The ex-Huddersfield Town man joined City from League One side Oldham Athletic on a month’s emergency loan back in January 2011, but within days his contract was cancelled by Oldham and Peter Taylor gave him a contract to stay with City until the end of the season. He went on to play for the Bantams 16 times before being released by Peter Jackson at the end of that season. Good luck Jon
