Well he is if the Football league – Official Clubs’ app on iPhone is to be believed! This story was brought to my attention by Stephen Siddall, who I follow on Twitter. 24-year-old Meredith was part of the York City side that gained promotion to the Football League last season. The Australian has played 144 games for the Minstermen since joining them in July 2009. He’s now a free agent following the expiry of his contact and he would be able to join City on a free transfer.
Meredith told the York Press on the 16th June: “At the moment, I am keeping my options open and listening to what other clubs have to say. I need to have a discussion with York because it would have to be a very good offer for me to leave. From what I know, there’s been a fair bit of interest from more than one club above League Two level but I’ve got to make the best all-round decision. I love York and am settled in Leeds where I live but I’ll have to see what everybody is saying and then make a decision.”
The club has confirmed that Meredith has signed on a two-year contract
