Parkinson on the signing of York City defender James Meredith

City boss Phil Parkinson told the club’s official website: “I’m really pleased to have James on board. He’s a young, hungry player with a great attitude. We had him watched several times at York City last season and we were impressed with what we saw of him. He had a terrific spell at York and has played virtually every one of their games for the last three years. He is a good athlete and can play in several positions, although he is predominantly a left-back.”

On his move the 24-year old Aussie said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my three years at York. I have nothing but respect for the manager and the chairman and they’re a great family club. But Bradford’s ambitions match my own and I’m excited to get started. I got on brilliantly with the manager (Phil Parkinson) from the moment I met him and he told me all about the ambitions for this club. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch in front of 10,000 in the magnificent stadium. I’ve heard it’s a great atmosphere to play in and I’ll be doing everything I can to help take Bradford a step up.”
