Peter Jackson has confirmed Falkirk winger Jack Compton and keeper Mark Howard have both left the club following their trials at Valley Parade.
The City boss said: “We won’t be taking Compton with us (to the Hull City game). He has gone back to Falkirk. I don’t think there will be much chance of us offering him a deal now. I don’t think anything will be happening on that front.”
Howard, who played in-goal for City in the last three pre-season games has also been told he isn’t going to be offered a deal. So former Macclesfield Town and Walsall keeper Jonny Brain, who kept goal in City’s first pre-season fixture at Silsden, has been invited back for a second look and he’s likely to play against Hull tomorrow.
Former Rotherham United player Jamie Green has been given longer to prove his worth. Jackson said today: “I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen of him in training so far, but we need to see him in another game situation,” said Jackson. He has been a bit unfortunate with injuries during his time here. He trained with the rest of the squad this morning, so hopefully he can feature tomorrow.”
