Former Bantams keeper Alan Combe on trial at Ajax!

That’s Ajax Cape Town in South Africa and not Ajax Amsterdam :) The Cape Town side were this year’s runner-up in South Afica’s top division (the ABSA Premiership). Shooz Mekuto the Ajax PRO said, “Heading the list will be the search for a new goalkeeper to replace Hans Vonk who retired the end last season. Johann La Croix and Allan Combe arrive at Ikamva next week for a 10 day training assessment period with the new Ajax Head Coach and his technical team.”

37-year-old Combe originally joined City from Dundee United in February 2002 on a loan deal until the end of the season. He went on to play for the Bantams 16 times before returning to Tannadice Park. 13 months later he returned to Valley Parade signing on a two-year deal for City in June 2003. He played for us another 21 times before City released him from his contract after 12 months so that he could join Kilmarnock.
